The Legends of Drum Corps was started in 1997 to honor the music, arrangers and Drum and Bugle Corps of the past.
Our membership ranges in age and ability, but are united under the common goal of having fun through playing and performing the great drum & bugle corps arrangements of the past.
We are a drum corps club. We are "The Drum Corps Club". We do not march, nor do we memorize. We have no uniforms. We have no dues nor do we do any fundraising (except for a charity or cause that we deem worthy). We only perform at partys! And, we have no rules (well, there is one rule. It is that while we are all here to have fun, noboby has any fun unless we play great.) We do not conflict with any other Drum Corps you may be in.
We meet on the first Friday of each month(The first Tuesday during Spring and Summer) at The Lt Norman Prince VFW Post on Main St in Melrose, MA.(Also occasional Saturday afternoons as needed to ensemble with the drumline and to allow rehearsal time for our out-of-state members).
We are from many corps who used to compete against each other but now unite in friendship bolstered by our common past and love for the drum & bugle corps genre.
We are a repertory drum corps.
We are a living musical museum.
We bring back the "Golden Oldies" of drum corps not only for the quality of the arrangements but also as a tribute to those arrangers and the corps that performed them. We are the "Sitting Sixty", "The Music Stand Cadets". We are about fun and drum corps. We are an idea whose time has come. We are user-friendly. The only way we could make being in Legends any easier would be to hold the rehearsals in your living room.
We have just completed our 2011 Season with another ovationalry performance at the Massachusetts Hall of Fame Induction Banquet. We will begin rehearsals the first week in October working towards performances at the 2012 HOF Banquet and also a possible appearance at the Plymouth Drum Corps Show in November of 2012.
